Attention to ALL parents of rising 7th grade students, and parents of ALL youth who desire to ENROLL as Candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Anthony of Padua.
All parents – including those whose 7th/8th graders attend St. John Paul II Catholic School, AND all those whose children are home-schooled, need to ENROLL their sons/daughters as CANDIDATES for Confirmation. [Note: Sacramental prep in the Diocese of Raleigh is a TWO year program.]
Enrollment to the Roster of Candidates, (and registration for St. Anthony’s Confirmation Prep program, for those not receiving their formation at SJPII or via a bona fide Catholic homeschool curriculum), will take place IN PERSON, after every weekend Mass, during the weekends of August 22nd and August 29th in the parish hall. A photocopy of both the Baptism Certificate, and the First Communion certificate, will be required in addition to the “Enrollment as Candidate for Confirmation” form, in order to create a file for your student and have them considered as a Candidate for Confirmation.
The “Enrollment as Candidate for Confirmation” form will include a place for you to indicate WHERE your child(ren) will be receiving their sacramental prep, (i.e., “St John Paul II Catholic School”, or “homeschool”,
or “St. Anthony Confirmation Prep.”) The form will include a section for parents to REGISTER their student for Confirmation Prep here at St. Anthony of Padua.
There will be a Parent/Student Orientation session for ALL parents and students, (regardless of which formation option is being used), on Wednesday, Sept. 8th at 6:30pm in the parish hall. **ALL students, (including SJPII and homeschool), and at least ONE parent will be expected to attend the FIRST FIVE SESSIONS, 6:30 – 7:45pm, Wednesday, Sept 15th to Wednesday Oct 13th. We will be presenting a special series for youth and adults called “ALTARation – The Mystery of the Mass Revealed”. This series, from Ascension Press, includes popular youth speakers such as Mark Hart and Fr. Mike Schmitz, Chris Stefanik and others to help explain what happens in the Mass, and why it is so important. For questions contact our Confirmation program at confirmation@stanthonyparish.net.
The Diocese requires a two-year formation program to recieve the sacrament of Confirmation. Students in grades 7 & 8 meet once a week on Wednesday evenings. Students must complete the 6th grade Religious Education program to enroll in the program. Classes begin in September and run through May.
Registration and Enrollment for Confirmation will take place August 22 & 29 after all Masses in the Parish Hall.
Parents who home-school their children and parents with students attending St. John Paul Catholic School are required to enroll their children as a Candidae for Confirmation during the registration.
